Everlasting Love and its Everlasting Impact

I believe the great story of Romeo and Juliet to be one of a few pieces of literature that has captivated the American psyche for centuries. Although fiction, this tale is in a sense what Americans base almost too much of their lives on while at the same time just enough. I can list no other piece of writing that has had the influence this tragic love story has had on overall mankind; If your great, great, grandparents weren't raised in the U.S. there is still a solid chance they knew of this tale and that it affected them the same way it affects us today. While my favorite part about this story is what the immediate response would be, the part about love, I think its unfair to overlook the level of writing and feeling Shakespeare embodies through this story that simply explains human beings every need and want. The specific cultural issue I will be addressing in relationship to this piece of writing is its overall influence on our lives and the lives of those before us. This relationship is so relevant because by explore it I feel a better understanding of why we do things the way we do. By examining the people who raised us and eventually being able to examine ourselves and what has influenced us to become the people we are today is honestly the only way to come to terms with human nature and exactly what YOUR nature consists of.
