Krakauer
In my own opinion, Krakauer's methods of adding constant research throughout his book was a smart way to add not only credibility to his writings but also adds a sense of care. He made a serious effort to put himself and the reader into Chris's shoes. I believe that the entire book had a specific goal. Krakauers goal was to explain Chris's last journal entry. It was Krakauers goal to use the events of Chris's journey to explain how he came to the conclusion "Happiness is only real when shared". By giving the background he did to Chris's travels' Krakauer has not only introduced why Chris left but has explained why at the end of the the people we surround ourselves with are our life. Life it to be shared, I have certainly never believed loneliness is an emotion humans are meant to understand. I am sad it took the experiences it did for Chris to discover this but i do believe it was Krakauers mission to make that journey of finding himself worth something, and without all of the research Krakauer did the valuable point couldn't have been made.

I have to say Into the Wild is one of the most recent books I have read in full, and actually liked (for the most part). I agree with you on the fact that Krakauer's book revolved around one statement. Family is very important to me, and I must say that in the end family is what matters the most. It is unfortunate that Chris had to die in order to figure this out. I'm sure that if Chris would have survived he would have gone and found his parents to apologize. I like how you said taht loneliness is an emotion humas are not meant to understand because it makes so much sense. This world is socially made so that you have interactions with humans on a daily basis. Even for people who are in jail have contact with other people, and the worse punishment is solidarity.
